everyday is halloween

watching this reel of spook show trailers is an annual rite for me.  so is posting it here in celebration of the scary season.  spook shows were mid-20th C live acts usually done in movie theaters.  the main act, performed by individuals with names like dr. satan etc etc, would perform a little magic & gags for the audience of incredulous young people who were promised, via these trailers, the fright of their lives!  the spook show also included at least one grade z horror movie to supplement their act.  but the piece de resistance was that moment in the show when the lights were cut & the audience were pelted with things like wet gauze as if the gauze were ectoplasm from the ghosts summoned by dr. satan & hovering over the audiences heads!  alas i missed out on seeing a spook show.  they were a thing of the past by the mid-70s which were my prime foundation horror movie loving years.  still, we live in an age of digital production & what was lost is found again.  hence, these trailers give a taste of these spook shows that promised you thrills, chills & spills.
