settled in for the nite on the couch to read a few pages from the novel i downloaded on my phone when i hear the growl & screech of a fight between two cats / oh shit leo is an outdoor cat / tho i must admit that it seems he is less our cat than we are leo's humans / for leo has gotten into scrapes before which required stitches / so i put on my clothes to go outside when i hear leo from a neighbor across the street & a few doors down / she sees me & says leo is safe it was the other cat who was the aggressor / we introduce ourselves by name / we've both lived on the same street for years / & this the first time we meet / she says that everyone on our street loves leo / he's such a laidback kitty / & i confess to her that we [anna, nick & me] think leo [who appeared from nowhere a few years ago on our doorstep] is everyone's cat / for he seems to make himself at home even on the sidewalk / yet it makes me happy to know that leo is beloved among our neighbors / for he is a charismatic kitty / who knows how or why / such is the mystery / i recall a video i watched online / where a raven landed next a beachcomber / hopped up to him / & whispered hello
