the quotidian [life] in poetry

only
tonight nicholas
dumped out a

big
green caterpillar
on our bed

&
it couldn't
be found anywhere

simply
disappeared in
wide clear air

nicholas
was so
upset about it

a
big green
caterpillar lost in

our
bed / gone
like harry houdini

then
like magic
it reappeared right

in
the living
room / carried we

think
by ernie
k ernst our

cat
who was
indeed clueless that

the
big green
caterpillar had landed

a
ride on
ernie's fluffy back

while
nicholas declares
as he holds

his
find again
i'll never let

him
go / never
let him go

again

It's great.

Nice name for a cat, I must say!

Great image, I especially like way it ends. Still, I don't think even that justifies the use of the word "fluffy" in a poem, but that's just my prejudice.

Of course, I now want to know what became of the caterpillar next? Clearly Nicholas has set himself up for another disappointment...
