don't stress: a poetics

when you come to a fork in the road don't worry about the path not taken for any path will do because it is the journey -- right -- that is the gift and be glad if the path is not the shortest route because you want a quality that is difficult to measure and make last for as long as you possibly can

probably, but not on purpose, i hummed the tune 'jack and diane' by john mellancamp. the latest issue of GLEE a character quoted the lyric, 'hold on to sixteen as long as you can/change is coming real soon to make us women and men'. must've got stuck in this poem.

i have certain songs that
'strobe' my mind and end up
in the beat a little

when i have a tune like that
the riffs usually end up really
different

as long as the beat comes easy
it doesn't step on your shoelaces
