a short pause in the scary season
ah! who am i kidding?! the scary season is always in my heart. but now anna & i celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary by renting a cabin in south lake tahoe. the place: camp richardson. the cabin: the buick, named after a classic car, like many cabins in the compound, rustic without telephones or TV. it was a very beautiful place with a multi-million dollar view of lake tahoe. we packed a lot of adventures in & around lake tahoe including going to the casinos on the stateline & winning a few bucks. that was a very fucking pleasant surprise. the buick was rustic without a telephone or TV but this ain't the end of civilization. i had my phone & could & did connect to the interwebs. so on friday night after anna & nick went to bed [i am a nite owl by nature] i opened a beer & picked up my phone. i clicked the youtube app. & i saw this song, 'harvest moon' by neil young, performed by my favorite cover band foxes & fossils. i don't remember seeing the band do this song before. then i looked at the date. it was uploaded on 10/16/19. it is brand new! & the band, including all the vocalists, are back together. holy fucking shit! i listened/watched & tears rolled down my cheeks. i shit you not. this song is like opening a present on christmas. the lead singer's, maggie adams, voice is always beautiful but in this version of young's classic song her voice has become a remarkable instrument of tone, timing, pitch & timber. all of the musicians are first rate. & a new song by the foxes & fossils is a cause to celebrate. i know that to each their own when it comes to tastes. i grant us all that of our varied & various beings. however, for me this cover band is one of the best in our land.

Stunning cover! Thanks for posting Richard. Reminded me, if I needed reminding, that I'm still in love with my wife. (And the lead singer!)
agreed, keith. i'm so happy that you like this cover by foxes & fossils. i discovered them early last summer & i fell in love with them. i so love their harmonies. i turned a couple of friends on to this band too. indeed, today, a friend said, richard close your eyes & give me your guess on the band. from that first sound at the mixing board i told me friend, foxes & fossils. we were both delighted by this song. i agree too that the lyrics, tone & emotion reminds me, as if i needed reminding, that i am still in love with my wife.
absolute music!
